  • The climax comes when Montresor walls Fortunato up in a nice in the wall of the catacombs.
  • This is an example of situational irony because monstresor used reverse phycology on his servant to be sure thattey were not home when e brought fortunate home. "once more let me implore you to return"
  • The author believes that revenge is the them because the narrator takes this plot and plans revenge upon Fortunato for an insult. Montresor intends to seek vengeance in support of his family motto.
