  • Cuba Rebelled against Spain. Spain sent out Valeriano, who put Cubans in concentration camps. A lot of them died. SO they wanted help from the U.S. but we didn't want to get involved. The Cubans sought their interest by burning the sugar cane. A lot of journalists used yellow journalism to make it sound worse than it actually was.

  • December 1898- The U.S. signes with Spain. Spain reconizes Cuba's independence. They signed the Treaty of Paris
  • In return for 20 million dollars. Spain gave up the Philipines, Peuto Rico and Guam to the U.S.
