Woodrow Wilson and some of his 14 points that he wanted to base the Treaty of Versailles off of.
- No secret treaties - Free access to the sea for all - Disarmament between all countries - League of nations to settle disputes
Wilson's 14 point plan:
Each one of the big four saying their demands from Germany.
Britain: We want Germany to be punished, but not that much since they trade with us.
Italy: I didn't even get what I want dang it...
America: I just want you to settle your disputes... also world peace.
France: We want Germany to pay for what they did to our country!
German people didn't feel that the Treaty of Versailles was fair in any way. All it did was make Germany pay millions of euros worth of reparations, reduce their military; not have tanks, naval and air forces. Germany also lost the Saar coalfields as well as Ruhr (Germany's industrial area) which were important to Germany since that's how they made most, if not all of their money.
So Germany lost the Saar coalfield? Well, time to find a new job.
I loved driving a tank around. But now I can't!
How am I going to make money to buy food if don't have a job?
The big four; Italy, France, Britain, and U.S.A. As well as Germany.
Germany is being forced to sign the Treaty of Versailles and Italy doesn't get what they want so they aren't even present, making the big four the big three. The treaty of Versailles was then officially signed on June 28th, 1919.
Treaty of Versailles Which wasn't based on the 14 points like the German's thought.
Germany then suffered many years of economic instability. The End!
What is going on?
Germany's currency has lost its value! We didn't agree to THIS!
I had millions of marks that could allow me to buy gold! Now I can't even buy 2 loaves of bread!
