  • Hello! I'm here to tell you about the Persian War. Years ago the Persians wanted to take over Greece so the Athens and the Persians went to war and the Athens won
  • The Athens and Sparta fought the Persians and they won the Battle of Marathon.
  • The Persians won the battle of Thermopylae and the Athens thought it was a success because it weakened the Persians  
  • The Battle of Salamis was a naval battle fought between an alliance of Greek city-states under Themistocles and the Persian Empire under King Xerxes in 480 BC which resulted in a decisive victory for the outnumbered Greeks.
  •  Decisive battle in the Persian War in which the Greeks overcame the Persian invaders. In 480, the Persian king Xerxes invaded Greece. On the plain north of Plataea, the decisive battle took place, and the Persians were defeated.
  • Although the Persian invasion was ended by the battles at Plataea and Mycale, fighting between Greece and Persia continued for another 30 years. The league had mixed success, and in 449 bce the Peace of Callias finally ended the hostilities between Athens and its allies and Persia.
