  • I will provide the trees sunshine so they can grow.
  • Carbon enters the soil through decomposition of plants and animals.
  • when plants and animals die, there bodies, wood and leaves, decay bringing carbon into the ground. some will become fossil fuels millions of years later.
  • animals and plants need to get rid of carbon dioxide through respiration. carbon moves from fossil fuels to the atmosphere when fuels are burned
  • plants use carbon dioxide and sunlight to make their own food. carbon becomes part of the plant. the plants that die are buried  can turn into fossil fuels like coal.
  • When humans burn fossil fuels to power factories, cars, etc. , most of the carbon enter the atmosphere as carbon dioxide.
