Storyboard Text

  • February Revolution
  • We are hungry! Give us food!
  • Let us in!
  • Czar Abdicates
  • These riots are too much for me to handle. I must step down.
  • Bolsheviks Take Over
  • This is just the beginning, comrades! We can accomplish much.
  • Because of inflation, it became difficult for people to receive the food they need. So, on International Women's Day, people began riots. They stole food from granaries. Some soldiers fought back, but many joined, as they were hungry too.
  • From the beginning, Czar Nicholas II wasn't prepared or inclined to rule. When the riots began, it became too much. He abdicated the throne and left the palace. He and his family were later killed by the Bolsheviks.
  • For a brief period of time, Russia had a Provisional Government. The Russians still weren't satisfied, and Vladimir Lenin saw an opportunity to take power. He led the Bolshevik (Communist) Revolution and became the new leader of Russia, following the ideas of Karl Marx.
