Sheikh Rashid Bin Saeed Al Maktoum was arguably born in the year 1912. He was raised in the Al Shandagha neighbourhood and was raised by his father Sheikh Saeed Bin Maktoum Al Maktoum. Sheikh Saeed was known well for his piety, wisdom, patience and prudence. His Mother Sheikha Hessa Bint al Mur Bin Hureiz Al Falasi was popular and was called the 'Mother of Dubai' as she was kept in a special place n the hearts of Dubai people
Shiekh Rashid recieved his first education in an are that lacked formal schools, Katateeb. There he learned about the Islamic Principles and culture whilst learning about the Arabic language. From a young age Sheikh Rashid was a very mature child and had was always thinking about the outcomes of the future.
In 1939 Sheikh Rashid was crowned prince. He helped his father run the state and demonstrated the ability to take responsibility. He saved Dubai from countless economic crisises notably the decline of pearl trade.
In 1958 Sheikh Saeed moved on to the next life, leaving his son, Sheikh Rashid, to rule Dubai. The family moved to the late Sheikh's palace in Zabeel . He established Dubai to be a commercial hub. Since the oil revenues would not last long, he invested in businesses and encouraged businessmen. This was the plan for the future of Dubai that we live in today.
By 1966 commercial production of oil earnest in Dubai. For this reason Department of oil affairs and Judaical and Aviation departments were established. Dubai creek became one of the best commercial and economic harbors.
Due to the wise intelligent guidance bestowed upon Dubai by Sheikh Rashid, Dubai played a significant role in the establishment of the UAE.
