Are you lost?
Salva is an eleven year old boy who lives in a town called Loun-Ariik. Also he is part of the Dinka tribe. This young boy loves school and loves getting the chance to have a good education.
Rising Action (2)
When Salva and his classmates are calmly listening to the teacher, they hear an odd sound. At first the teacher did not know what the sound was, but he figured out that the sound was gunshots. He told Salva and the other students to run to the bush and not to and return home . Salve wanted to return home but he knew he must flee.
Rising Action (3)
Salva is traveling with his group, and overnight they leave him alone in a barn. When Salva wakes up and finds out that they left him he is panicking and is very nervous. Then he sees a women that is Dinka walking by. He works for her for a couple of days until she says that she needs to travel alone. Salva is upset, but then he sees some Dinka people walking towards the barn.
Rising Action (4)
Salva realizes his Uncle has joined the group. His is Uncle has become the leader because of his military experience and he has a gun. Salva's life is a lot easier now because his Uncle shares food and water with him.
During the night Salva's friend Marial is killed by a lion. Salva remember this for days. The feeling about this made Salva sad.
Uncle and Salva are crossing the Akobo Desert. Salva stubs his toe. His Uncle has to point out things to Salva to keep him focused so he can cross the desert.
