- Odysseus and his men arrive at the island of the cyclops.
- It is Odysseus's famed curiosity that leads him to Cyclop's cave and that makes him insist on waiting for the court of king Alcinous.
- Odysseus and 12 of his men find the cyclops' cave.
- "Tell me, how are you called? I'll make a gift will please you. Line 351
- "My name is Nohbdy." Line 360
- Odysseus and his men are trapped inside by the Cyclops.
- The cyclops is stabbed in the eye by Odysseus and his men, but when the others come to his aid, he says "Nohbdy's" has blinded him.
- "Nohbdy, Nohbdy's tricked me. Nohbdy's ruined me!" line 403
- Since the cyclops is now blind, Odysseus and his men are able to hide under the sheep and escape.
- Full of rage, Polyphemus sends a prayer to his father, Poseidon.
