"'I see the world an awful lot like a cow,' she says"(60)
"At first, she felt her panic rising. But she waited. A moment passes, and then it happened. At last, Temple felt engulfed with a feeling of calm, security, and peace-the way you feel as a small child, wrapped in the arms of your mother or father, certain that everything would be all right."(64-65)
Signpost: Contrast and Contradiction
"Temple's friend Tina wasn't afraid at all. She got right down on her hands and knees and put her head through the head gate."(69)
The book was quoting Temple and I believe the reason they used this quote is to show how Temple can relate to animals in the way her brain works and this quote added a first-person account of how she feels and again how she can relate to animals.
Word Gap: Thesis
The study of the behavior of cattle in different types of cattle chutes.....
The difference is that Temple was panicked and worried, but after a minute she felt relaxed and calm. It matters because Temple had lots of panic attacks but once it calmed her it changed her life since she had such a hard time finding a solution to her panic attacks and anxiety.
Summary:5-7 Word Gist
In this part Temple's friend, Tina is wanting to keep learning, so she is open to try Temple contraption and see if it works on her. If Tina had not been open to try out Temple's machine, then Temple may have been discouraged and felt like she wouldn't get anyone for her experiment.
