Direct Democracy is a form of democracy in which the people participate in government without representatives. In Athens all citizens were expected to participate in government.
Battle of Salamis
It is a form of democracy in which the citizens voted directly on legislation and executive bills. To vote you had to be a citizen which meant your had to be an adult, male citizen, i.e., not a foreign resident, a slave or a woman.
Direct Democracy was first implemented in Athens.
The Athenians devised a plan to trap the Persians in Salamis Bay. Xerxes ordered his ships into the narrow bay. The smaller Athenian ships outmaneuvered the large Persian fleet ships and Xerxes forces were defeated.
