  • When the Compromise is place Main is decided to be a free state while Missouri becomes a slave state.
  • we must keep the amount of slave states even to regular states so Missouri belongs to us!
  • The 36"30N line was the line that divided america into two different sections (North and South).
  • All states south of this line and Missouri shall be slave states
  • In the Northern states, New York Senator James Tallamage proposed on amendment banning all slavery in the Louisianian territory. Senator Rufus King also argued that congress should have the power to determine weather a new state should be free or enslaved.
  • slavery is our right they shouldn't have the ability to take it from us!
  • While Missouri is located above the separation line it needed to be a slave state to keep the amounts of slavery and anti slavery states were even.
  • The 36"30N line was the line that divided america into two different sections (North and South). Even though this line indicated Missouri as a free states it was still considered a slave stated due to the compromise of 1820
  • In the southern slave states advocates Maryland senator William Pinkney states that they should be able to decide weather or not they wanted to be slave or free. Ultimately Henry Clay devised the Missouri Compromise.
