  • Good morning, I wrote my research report on my great grand father journey through the trail of tears 
  • The Indian Removal Act was passed down May 26, 1830 by the house of representatives
  • Gold was discovered in Georgia in 1828, which sped up the passing of the Indian Removal Act. The 'Five Civilized Tribes' inhabited the land in Georgia where gold was found. So they wanted us gone.
  • general Scott  and his soldiers rounded up the Cherokee people into large prison camps called Stockcades  
  • the Cherokee were given money to buy food along the way. however, dishonest suppliers sold them bad at high prices causing many of them to starve
