It is important to know the difference between the duties and responsibilities so that you can understand what is expected by the government versus what is assumed by the government.
- The duties of an American citizen are the expected actions from the United States government. An example of this is taxes.
- The responsibilities of a United States citizen are the actions that the government is assuming that you are taking.
