There were four events of the Crusades. Firstly, we have the First Crusade. There armies were untrained peasants. They didn't have the weapons they needed and many were killed by Muslim Turks because of it. But, the knights did succeeded in getting Jerusalem. Now we have the Second Crusade. After their victory, many Christians had gone home. But the Turks eventually took back much of their territory. The king of France and Emperor of Germany sent troops to stop the Turks. Sadly, they were defeated.
It's time for the third Crusade! Saladin lead the Muslim Turks to their victory! Even though they kinda lost, King Richard of England had convinced the Turks to allow Christians to visit the Holy Land. Lastly, we talk about how the stories continue. After the the Third crusade, there were several more Crusades! But there were no victories to be found for the Christians! But the kinda sad, but true thing is that sometimes they sent a Children's crusade. About 30,000 soldiers were sent, some of them under the age of 12! In the end they never made it to the Holy Land, because many starved or were captured and sold into slavery!
Now we move on to the Crusades lasting events
Many things changed because of the Crusades. One change is that trade between Europe and Asia increased, and some politic ideas were shown in Europe. A few Crusades and kings power grew because others had died in the Holy Land.
Some more lasting effects are in the following. Because of the attack by the Jews, there was distrust between Christians and Jews. A common respect developed between a few Christians and Muslims. But, the Crusaders saw Muslims as unbelievers who frightened innocent Christians and Muslims, who viewed the Crusaders as vicious invaders!
