  • The story "The Cask of Amontillado," was written by Edgar Allen Poe. It takes place at a party where the mood becomes dark when the main character Montresor has the plan of killing Fortunato. He plans on luring him into the catacombs using the idea of Amontillado.
  • Climax
  • Montresor was bullied by fortunato. Fortunato insulted Montresor. Montresor was mad. Montresor wanted to be avenged.
  • Falling Action
  • Montresor lured Fortunato down into the catacombs with the fact he had Amontillado. He used the idea someone might be better suited for the task at hand. This was meant to be an insult to Fortunato. Montresor got him drunker as they went deeper into the cave.
  • Resolution
  • They enter the room which Montresor says the Amontillado was. When they enter, Montresor chains Fortunato to the wall, Planning on leaving him to die, he uses a padlock. Fortunato starts screaming
  • Montresor builds a wall of bricks at the doorway. Fortunato passes out. His hat jingles. Montresor leaves. 
  • Montresor has killed Fortunato. Montresor has gotten his revenge. Fortunato means Fortune, which he was not. Fortunato was what his hat had described him as, a joke.
