Evolution of Rome's goverment
Rule under the Etruscans was harsh. They ruled Rome as a monarchy with several strong kings who gave no rights to the people of Rome. Eventually, the people of Rome banded together and kicked the Etruscan kings out of Rome.
After the Etruscan rule ended, the Romans set up a form of government called a republic in 509 BC.Romans established a republic. Instead of having every person voice their opinion on government issues, each citizen votes to elect someone to represent them and make all of the political decisions for them,
Julius Caesar became dictator (a ruler with total power who takes control) and ran Rome without listening to the Senate. The Senate had Julius Caesar killed and after his death in 44 B.C. the Roman Republic came to an end.
