  • Fort Sumter April 12, 1861
  • The First Battle of Bull Run July 21, 1861
  • Battle of Shiloh April 6-7 1862
  • Fort Sumnter was the first battle of the Civil War. It took place in Charleston South Carolina. The battle itself wasnt bloody but was the start of many more gruesome battles. 
  • 
  • The Battle of Bull Run was the first major battle in the Civil War. It took place in Manassas, Virginia.  Even though the Union greatly outnumbered the Confederacy the south stayed strong and defeated the north. 
  •  Battle of Chancellorsville April 30 to May 6, 1863
  • The Battle of Shiloh happened in Hardin County, Tennessee. It was the first battle in the Civil War that had a high death toll, at 23,000. The attack itself was a surprise to the Union. During the battle Confederate General Albert Sidney Johnston was killed, which helped lead the Union to victory.

  • The Battle of Chancellorsville happened in Spotsylvania County, Virginia. It was seen as the Confederacies greatest victory. The Confederates were facing the Union which was double its size and split into 2, then forced the Union into the woods. This gave them the advantage resulting in a Confederate Victory.
