Guru Nanak was born in 1469 in a village in Northern India called Talwindi
Guru Nanak was brought up in a hindu household. He was a religious man growing up and he worked in a government office.
When Guru Nanak was 30 years old he went to the river to bathe. He did not return for a long period of time and people believed him to be dead.
After 3 days he returned and the first thing he said is that there is no Muslim nor Hindu. He also told the people that he had spoken to God.
Over the next 20 years Guru Nank travelled all over asia preaching his message of peace.
He finally settled in a village called Kartapur and educated a few people who became the first Sikhs. One of them was called Lehna . When Guru Nanak died Lehna became the 2nd Guru.
