The Lottery - Kurth

Storyboard Description

Andrew Wangelin, 2nd hour

Storyboard Text

  • Tradition, sacrifice, community
  • It's not fair!
  • Foreshadowing
  • Anybody ain't here?
  • Mood
  • Let's finish quickly.
  • This scene shows tradition, because they do this event every year. This scene shows sacrifice, because they are sacrificing one person to continue their tradition. Finally, this scene shows community, because the event involves everyone in the community, even if some people do not attend.
  • "Anybody ain't here?" foreshadows the sacrifice because at the end of the story, Tessie was stoned to death.
  • The text, "Let's finish quickly." shows the mood. This is because all the villagers know that it won't be pleasant, and want it to end quickly.
