  • John Quincy Adams became the 6th president of The United States of America. John Quincy Adams is the son of John Adams, America's second president. He served as part of the American delegation that negotiated an end to the War of 1812. In 1817, newly elected President James Monroe selected Adams as his secretary of state. In the role of secretary of state, he helped for the American acquisition of Florida.
  • Andrew Jackson is the 7th president of the United States. Jackson wanted to advance the rights of a "common man," against the corrupt aristocracy." In his presidency, Jackson became the only president to completely pay off national debt. In foreign affairs, Jackson's administration made a "most favored nation" treaty with Great Britain. He also survived the first assassination attempt on a sitting president.
  • Henry Clay served as the 7th Speaker of the House in the House of Representatives and served as the 9th Secretary of State. Clay finished with the 4th most electoral votes in the multi-candidate in the 1824 presidential election. He helped John Quincy Adams become president, people think that they agreed to a "corrupt bargain."
