- 1. Samuel goes to Bethlehem to find a king
- Jesse gets his sons and none of them are chosen
- Jesse gets his last son, David and Samuel chooses him.

- The LORD said to Samuel, “How long will you morn for Saul, since I have rejected him as king over Israel? Fill your horn with oil and be on your way; I am sending you to Jesse of Bethlehem. I have chosen one of his sons to be king”
- They prepare for battle against the Philistines and David told his family that he would fight against Goliath, a big strong philistine.
- But the LORD said to Samuel, “Do not consider his appearance or his height, for I have rejected him. The LORD does not look at the things people look at. People look at the outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart’”
- The Philistines and Israelites David came up and fought Goliath with nothing but a rock and a slingshot and killed him.
- David was a small and young Shepard.
- Saul was angry at David becau He wanted to be king and Saul tries to kill him but David runs and the LoRD protects him
- His family was shocked.
- GOD was on his side!
- “Dsliver me from my enemies, O GOD; be my fortress against those who are attacking me.”
