The Ionians revolted against the Persians . They were not pleased with having there homes taken away and ended up having rebellions here and there.
After the Ionian Revolt the Persian Empire turned there war efforts and attention to Athens. The first conflict was at marathon, the Athenian ended up enclosing on the Persians like the letter C. They ended up winning the battle bringing hope to the Athenians.
After the battle at Marathon the Athenians told Pheidippides to run back to Athens and announce the victory. They say the run was 26 miles there for being the first marathon run.
In this battle the Greeks were able to hold off the Persians for 3 whole days in battle. There were 300 Spartans, led by Leonidas, and around 7,000 Athenian men. There were rumored to be about 250,000 Persian soldiers and around 10,000 of there Immortal, there top trained soldiers.
After the 3 days of fighting there was a betrayal. Someone had told the Persians about the secret passage, leading to the greatest last stand in history. 300 Spartans led by Leonidas fought all 250,000 Persians and unavoidably lost to them.
The battle of Salamis was a elebrate plan by the Athenians. They tricked the Persians by leading them into a trap claiming to say they are vulnerable. When the Persian Ships arrived they used there maneuverability and rams to ram the large and less maneuverable Persian Ships, it also was in there plan to lead the Persian ships into a condensed area.
