  • I'm sorry but i'm leaving you...
  • Climax
  • Mary Maloney is at home waiting for her husband to arrive home from work. She is 6 months pregnant and sitting in her chair knitting. She loves her husband very much, more than anything.
  • Falling Action
  • Finally, her husband arrives home, but he is acting off. He was downing his whiskey and trying to ignore his wife. He has bad news.. he tells his wife that he is leaving her, but to not make a big deal about it. So she decides to go make dinner.
  • Resolution
  • She was in so much shock that she went completely numb. She wouldn't talk, and wouldn't accept the fact that he was leaving. So she walked into the room and smacked her husband in the back of the head with the leg of lamb. Mary hit so hard that it killed him.
  • Literary Terms
  • After she put the lamb in the oven to hide the evidence, she came up with a plan to hide the murder. In her best calm face, she went to the market to go get vegetables for her meal. She planned to make a scene and call the cops when she got home.
  • When Mary arrived home and saw her husband lying on the ground dead, she fell to her knees and realized what she had done. She immediately called the cops to report his murder. She got away with it because of her cover story of being at the store.
  • The police were very willing to do whatever Mary needed them to do while she was grieving. All she wanted was for them to enjoy the meal she had prepared for her husband...but they didn't realize they were eating the murder weapon.
  • Wow, Mrs. Maloney..This lamb is amazing.
