  • Cromwell has the most power in 1649 and so he abolished the monarchy and the house of lords to establish a common, a republican form of government (Dictatorship).  In 1649, he arrived on the Irish shores with his soldiers and seized the lands and homes of the Irish and give them to the English soldiers.
  • When Charles II died, James II became a king although some of the people didn't like him because he was catholic in a protestant country. When James Catholic heir was born they asked William of orange to invade England and to restore protestantism to call a free Parliament to help govern the country. p.p1 {margin: 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px; font: 26.0px 'Helvetica Neue'; color: #000000}
  • England was living in a constitutional monarchy where laws were limited in the ruler's power which during that time was William and Mary. There was also a Bill of Rights which were the things monarchs can't do such as suspending parliament's laws, interfering with freedom of speech or penalty for citizens who petitions the king about grievances.
