  • Hale- "Goody Proctor, I do not judge you. My duty is to add what I may to the godly wisdom of the court. I pray you both a good health and good fortune... Good night sir" (Line 253)
  • Proctor - "It may be I have been too quick to bring the man to book, but you cannot think we ever desired the destruction of religion. I think that's in your mind, is it not?" (Line 232)
  • Elizabeth- "I think, maybe, we have been too hard with Mr.Parris. I think so. But sure we never loved the devil here." (Line 234)
  • In this scene of The Crucible, Reverend Hale has come into Elizabeth Proctor and John Proctors home. Hale seems to be suspicious of them taking part in Witchcraft which is against their religion. Hale questions Proctor about why he hasn't been to church, his candles, and his 10 Commandments. Elizabeth gets questioned also. Although, Proctor can't state the Commandment talking about Adultery because he has committed it. The fact that seems to Hale that Proctor forget the Commandment make Proctor look even more guilty. Deep down Elizabeth and Proctor are not guilty, but at this time the town has gone crazy.
