- What light through yonder window breaks? It is the East and Juliet is the sun!
- Ay me!
- O, speak again, bright angel, for thou art as glorious to this night, being over my head, as is a winged messenger of heaven.
- Romeo, Romeo, Wherefore art tho Romeo? Deny thy name or make me a Montague! For a rose by any other name would smell as sweet.

- What man art thou, so stumblest upon my secret thoughts?
- Romeo sneaks into the Capulet's orchard to see Juliet and sees a light a balcony light on.
- My name is hateful to myself because it is an enemy to thee.
- My ears have not yet drunk a hundred words of yours but yet I know the sound.
- Juliet, unaware that Romeo can hear her, gushes about how much she loves him and wishes that Romeo was not a Montague.
- With love's light wings I did o'erperch these walls; for stony limits cannot hold love out
- How did you come here, tell me, wherefore? The orchard walls are hard to climb.
- After listening to how Juliet feels, Romeo can not keep quiet any longer and he calls out to Juliet, startling her.

- Even though Romeo and Juliet have only spoken briefly, Juliet recognizes Romeo's voice when she asks who is there.
- Juliet asks Romeo how he got over the high walls that surround the orchard and Romeo replies that he flew over the walls with love's light wings because walls cannot keep their love apart
- Juliet is worried that Romeo will be killed if her kinsman see him at the Capulet's orchard, but Romeo says that he would rather die than wait for her love any longer.
