The book i read was Catherine Called Birdy by Karen Cushman. Catherine is the main character of the book. In the beginning of the book Catherine was a ,unhappy, and stubborn person. But at the end of the book Catherine change and is now a caring, and mature. The author shows these traits by dialogue and effect on others.
In the beginning of the book Catherine was a unhappy and stubborn person. This piece of evidence shows that Catherine was unhappy because when she says she is a 'prisoner" you can tell she does not like to go and hem linen with her mother.
" I am a prisoner to my needle again today, hemming linen in the solar with my mother and her women".
This example shows that Catherine is stubborn because when she says she can't stand lady task she basically is saying she does not like them and dose not want to do them.
"I can stand no more of lady-tasks, endless mindless sewing, hemming, brewing, doctoring, and counting linen!
In the end of the book Catherine was a caring and mature person. This piece of text shows that Catherine is a caring person because in text her mother had a fever so Catherine took care of her mother by rubbing oil on her back.
"Since then my mothers greatly with a fever. I rubbed her back with an ointment wild poppy and oil".
This quote is showing that Catherine has matured because she has now realized after all this time that her home is actually really speacial to her.
"Now that i am about to leave, I feel how dear this place is to me".
In conclusion the book i read was Catherine Called Birdy by Karen Cusman. At first Catherine was a type of person that was unhappy and stubborn. But now she is a change person who is caring and mature. This was shown by dialogue and effect on others.
