Storyboard Text

  • Today we will be learning about subatomic particles. Does anyone have questions?
  • What are subatomic particles?
  • Subatomic particles are the particles smaller than an atom.
  • The atom on the board consists of subatomic particles called electrons, protons, and neutrons.
  • Protons + Neutrons: circle in the middleElectrons: circles floating outside
  • The protons and neutrons are located in the nucleus. The electrons move around around the atom in what we call orbitals
  • Nucleus
  • Orbitals
  • Protons (positive charged) are particles that define what element the atom is. Neutrons (no charge) help to keep the nucleus intact with the protons. Electrons (negative charged) are particles to balance the positive charges.
  • What role do protons, neutrons, and electrons have?
  • Let's look at the board.
  • I understand subatomic particles now!
  • I'm glad you understand subatomic particles.
