Friends will always protect each other no matter what

George and Lennie plan to stay together to have a house in the future
"George, how long's it gonna be till we get that little place an' live on the fatta the lan'- an' rabbits,"(56)
At the beginning of Mice and Men George and Lennie run away from a city and don't have much but they do have each other.
Lennie did something bad and was scared George was going to get mad at him.
Once Lennie and George get to the new barn and meet the people, they meet Curley. George gets a bad feeling about this guys and says to be careful.
If you hurt someones loved ones, they will try to get you back
George and Lennie plan to save up enough money to get themselves a house. They want to make their own money and also live together and happily.
Friendships can end based on someones actions
"We gonna get a little place, ...the hand and gun lay on the ground behind Lennie's back," (105)
Lennie was starting to panic and didn't want to get George mad and ruin their friendship so he tried to get rid of the dog before anyone saw it.
"...But he'll know. George always knows. He'll say, 'You done it. Don't try to put nothing over on me' "(85)
Lennie had killed Curley's wife when they were alone . George then came and seemed very sad and scared for Lennie because of what Curley wanted to do to him.
"Lennie never done it in meanness... All the time he'd done bad things, but he never done one of 'em mean," (95)
Due to Lennie's reckless acts he always seemed to get in trouble. George did what he had to do and kill Lennie but he did it in the best way possible. He made Lennie think about his happy place and have positive thoughts.
