In Pandora's Box and the Monkeys Paw, a similar theme is curiosity. Both stories use curiosity and they both lead to very bad consequences. In " The Monkey's Paw", the father is curious id the Monkey's Paw actually grants wishes so, he asking for the $200 and his son died for him to get the $200. In "Pandora's Box", Pandora is curious what's inside the box so she opens it and evil ghosts come out.
Another similarity in both stories is that they both use foreshadowing in their stories. This helps the readers inflect on what will happen later in the story. in Pandora's Box, Epimethius told Pandora not to open the box because something bad might happen. In The Monkeys Paw, the father told the mother not to open the door because he knew it wasn't their son at the door and it was something bad.
In both "Pandora's box" and "The Monkey's Paw" curiosity ruled. But in "Pandora's box" Pandora hid the box under her bed to try to stop her curiosity. On the underhand, in "The Monkey's Paw", the characters just left the paw out in the open.
Even though both stories use curiosity as a theme, they both have different consequences. in "Pandora's box", because Pandora was curious on what was in the box, she opened the box. In "The Monkeys Paw". because they parents were curious on what the Monkeys Paw does, they wish for something and got it but their son dies.
