While Equality sat in his tunnel, he wondered about the Unmentionable Times and Unspeakable Word, which was the language used in the olden times but is not anymore. The memory of both eras were completely erased from the new society, to form a new way of life and a new perspective.
Speaking the Unspeakable Word is the only crime punishable by death. Once in awhile, there would be a couple of people who would go against the rules and speak about the Unmentionable Times. They would be notified to the Council Members and, you know, be sentenced to death.
Equality remembers seeing the Transgressor of the Unspeakable Word burned alive in the town square for speaking the Unspeakable Word, and he remembers that there was no pain in his face, only happiness. As the Transgressor of the Unspeakable Word died, staring at Equality, Equality thought he looked like a saint.
