As the first President of the United States, George Washington had to set precedents and values that all following presidents had to follow. George was a great leader.
George Washington created the first presidential cabinet. The cabinet consisted of the Secretary of War, the Attorney General, the Secretary of State, and the Secretary of Treasury.
As Secretary of Treasury, Alexander Hamilton had a big problem. The U.S. owed 72 MILLION DOLLARS to soldiers, states, and other countries.
Alexander Hamilton proposed that the U.S. should put tariffs on imports, and make bonds for citizens.
George Washington, McQueen, set the precedents for all the next presidents. Alexander Hamilton solved the U.S debt problem.
