  • I no longer enjoyed hunting
  • The best game ever is on this island
  • General Zaroff is a Cossack ,handsome ,tall ,and middle aged man. He also only has one passion in life which is hunting. Also the General is extremely wealthy ,and lives in a large mansion on his private island
  • How could you do such a thing
  • The General explains how he was designed and meant to be a hunter. He goes further with this statement explaining how he started hunting at the age 5 and killed his first bear at the age 10. However because of the amount of hunting he has done he no longer finds any of the animals meant for hunting fun to hunt anymore ,so he wanted to find his own animal that was perfect.
  • The General explains how he has the biggest game on his island ,and how this animals has supplied him with the best hunting and all the hunting he will ever need. General Zaroff then describes the animal and how it is cunning, courageous ,and it can reason.
  • You win
  • General Zaroff states that the animal he finds best to hunt is humans. The General then back up his reasoning for this and says that it is not murder but instead just hunting. However Rainsford thinks other wise so the general offers him a proposal. Rainsford accepts this proposal and they proceed in a hunt.
  • General Zaroff attempts to track down Rainsford ,but to no avail. The General then begins to get more frustrated stating he has never lost a hunt in his life ,so he decides to bring out the hounds he has to help him track down Rainsford.
  • General Zaroff gets surprised by Rainsford seeing him inside of his house. However he doesn't kill Rainsford but instead honors his word like he said he would. He also accepts that he lost and says the he will let Rainsford spend the night then help him return home.
