Storyboard Text

  • Arzo Gul is an 18 year old girl living in Kalbu, Afghanistan. For the past few years Afghanistan has been suffering from a high level of kidnapping, terrorist attacks, and many people are living in poverty (Economic and Political push factors).
  • Arzo decided to emigrate from Afghanistan to one of its neighboring countries, Iran. Arzo went to Iran because of its economic opportunities and the support given to the refugees (economic pull factor).
  • While living in Iran, Arzo met a group from Canada who were willing to sponsor her. Canada provides job opportunities, religious and political freedom, free healthcare, security, and support for refugees (economic and political pull factors).
  • Using her sponsorship, Arzo immigrated to Quebec, Canada where she was given a temporary place to stay and help finding a job (economic pull factors).
  • After Arzo's refugee claim was approved she migrated to Toronto, Canada. Toronto is home to many communities of Afghan Canadians (political pull factors).
  • Arzo opened her own restaurant in Toronto and is finally where she wants to be.
