Where’s Potpan? Why isn’t he helping us clear the tables? He should be moving and washing plates!
Welcome, ladies and gentlemen. I hope the ladies who have bravery will dance with you.
Uncle, this man is a Montague—our enemy. He’s a crook who’s come here to ruin our party.
Calm down nephew. This man has done us no harm, so please, keep the peace.
Juliet's father, Lord Capulet, is hosting a Halloween party at their house, and everyone is invited. The servants are preparing food for many guests. Peter, the Nurse's servant, is stressed out and really angry that a servant didn't show up.
Your hand is so soft and lovely. Mine is hard and ruined.
Good man, you don’t give your hand enough respect.
Capulet is welcoming everyone to the party and when he doesn't see, Romeo and his friend, Benvolio and Mercutio, sneak into the party to try to find Romeo. Romeo has fallen in love with a girl who doesn't love him back, so he tries to find a new woman to love in the party.
Is she a Capulet? Oh, this is a heavy price to pay! My love is in the hands of my enemy.
Come on, let’s go. Right when things are the most fun is the best time to leave.
Romeo and his friends can't go to the party because they are Montagues, and they are enemies with the Capulet family. Tybalt, Lord Capulet's nephew, is the most aggressive in the family and really hates Montegues. He spots Romeo and recognizes his voice and tries to start a fight. Lord Capulet calms Tybalt down and leaves Romeo in peace.
His name is Romeo. He’s a Montague. He’s the only son of your worst enemy.
The only man I love is the son of the only man I hate!
When Romeo sets eyes on Juliet, he completely forgets about Rosaline, his old love. Juliet loves him as well, and they kiss two times. Right before he leaves, Romeo asks Juliet's nurse who this mysterious woman is (he doesn't know Juliet's name yet) and finds out that she is a Capulet.
Romeo leaves with a terrible thought in his head. He has fallen in love his enemy. How will he tell his parents?
Juliet is also curious about the man she just kissed, so she tells her Nurse to find his name. Now Juliet is in the same misery as Romeo is in.
