Coureurs De Bois Lifestyle Short Comic - Megan
The usual Coureurs De Bois lifestyle.
Before the sun came up,the coureurs de bois would go out and travel for 12-14 hours each day to reach a meeting destination before winter came. Or just to explore the area.
Some first nations also tag along to explore and to hunt for fur. During this time, the coureus de bois are taught how to hunt and possibly snowshoe.
Along the way, they would hunt for fish. Around the rivers or lakes they would use their canoes to paddle along the lakes or rivers to explore instead of walking.
They would only stop and set up camp if the weather required them to. Usually in extreme rain or snow.
If they met up, the coureurs de bois would trade things like cutlery or weaponry for beaver fur or pelts.
At night, one person would stand on guard while the others sleep and would rotate this shift throughout the night.
