Storyboard Text

  • They were locked out of there usual meeting hall at Versailles and thought the king was forcing them to disband so they went to a nearby tennis court where they took an oath to never separate until a written constitution is established for France.   
  • The third estate
  • We must not separate and reassemble wherever circumstances require until the constitution of the kingdom is established 
  • A state prison in Paris was attacked by an angry mob. When a governor refused to comply to their demands, the mob charged and the governor was seized and killed with his head on a stick which they carried around the streets.
  • Fall of the Bastille
  • The main food for commoners was bread. Women would go to the market for some but saw that it was very expensive for a small amount and began to get very hungry. One day a group of women gathered together to revolt. They began to march around with weapons until they were given some bread for a fair amount.
  • Women's March to Versailles 
  • Bread! Bread!
  • The national assembly met and took the idea from philosophers to strip everyone from there titles (nobles ect) . When they met they quickly made a new constitution. Now, everyone would just be a citizen. The government also took the church and there property.
  • Declaration of the rights of man and citizen 
  • King Louis and Marie
  • When Louis was accused of high treason and crimes across the state, he was found guilty and got executed. Later on in the year, Marie was also taken to her trial and got separated from her children and later on also got executed. 
  • reign of terror
  • This was a period of dramatic violence that occurred after the French revolution. It was ruled by a group of men called the Committee of Public Safety. The leader of this group also was the leader of a radical group, the Jacobins. They felt it was their duty to preserve the revolution even if it were to cause violence. They introduce many new laws and they wanted 'Terror' to be a proper policy from the government. Now, everyone had to be really careful about every thing they did as if they were to slightly do something a tiny bit against them they will be killed or put in prison!
