  • Remy and Jimmy were playing soccer, until one day...
  • OUCH!!!
  • ... Remy took a great fall and scraped his knee.
  • That one's gotta hurt.
  • I scraped my knee pretty badly. Am I going to bleed out?
  • Good thing your body will undergo a positive feedback. Your body will amplify the process of blood clotting. This will prevent you from losing too much blood.
  • How does it work?
  • When your body receives the scrape, or the initial stimulus, this will trigger the receptors in your skin to send messages to the control center, or brain through an afferent pathway.
  • Interesting. What happens after?
  • Then through an efferent pathway, the brain will tell your body to produce more platelets which is the response to the stimulus.
  • The effectors are the platelets that are continued to be produced and adhere to the injury site until the blood is completely stopped.
