  • The battle of Fallen Timbers
  • Who Won? 
  • The Whiskey Rebellion 
  • This battle started because the Native Americans teamed up with the British and they were attacking American settlers. As a result a battle between Native Americans and American settlers started.  
  • What happened next?
  • If you don't take back the whiskey taxes, we will take them back ourselves the hard way! 
  • The American settlers won causing the Native Americans to surrender much of what is Ohio and Indiana today. 
  • The President's solution. 
  • After battle with the Native Americans the whiskey rebellion started. The government needed money so they started charging people with taxes on whiskey. This angered people and people started to protest. 
  • What did this do? 
  • The Whiskey Rebellion started to get out of hand and people started threatening the government. 
  • The president did not want to show signs of weakness so he sent the army out to take care of the problem and fight the rebels. 
  • By not letting the colonists win and by fighting back, the government showed that it had the power, not the people.
