  • Good morning class! Today we will be working in groups. Working together is important according to Vgotsky, who claims that social interaction is a crucial part of learning.

  • On the board, you will find the norms we co-created yesterday as a class. According to Berger et. al, "norms and protocols support productive group work" (86).

  • If you noticed, I carefully put my students into groups with mixed abilities. I have two students with autism in this class, so I warned them ahead of time about being put into groups. I also assigned everyone clear roles in the group and communicated my expectations/norms, which will help all students (and especially my students with autism) have a successful group time.
