Storyboard Text

  • Connection: Vgotsky in Journalism and New Media Class...
  • Good morning class! Today we will be working in groups. Working together is important according to Vgotsky, who claims that social interaction is a crucial part of learning.
  • Connection: "Management in the Active Classroom" by Berger et. al + Reflective Seminar...
  • On the board, you will find the norms we co-created yesterday as a class. According to Berger et. al, "norms and protocols support productive group work" (86).
  • Explicit Norms 1. 2. 3.
  • Connection: "Fires in the Bathroom," ch. 5...
  • Group A: role 1, role 2, role 3, role 4 Group B: role 1, role 2, role 3, role 4 Group C: role 1, role 2, role 3, role 4 Group D: role 1, role 2, role 3, role 4
  • Lastly, on the board, you will find your group members and the roles you will play in the group.
  • Explicit Norms 1. 2. 3.
  • If you noticed, I carefully put my students into groups with mixed abilities. I have two students with autism in this class, so I warned them ahead of time about being put into groups. I also assigned everyone clear roles in the group and communicated my expectations/norms, which will help all students (and especially my students with autism) have a successful group time.
  • Connection: Inclusion 5501 + Field Placement Experience...
  • I noticed Jack is doing a good job at backing up his statements with evidence from the text! Well done Jack... *other students immediately begin to replicate Jack's actions"
  • Connection: Field Experience Observation
  • Yay! So much beautiful learning!
  • The end...
