Storyboard Text

  • Good morning! My name is Mr. Ross. My son is Robert and I'm here to meet about him being identified as gifted.
  • Hello, how are you? I'm Principal McWatkins. It's a pleasure to meet you.
  • Nice to meet you too! I was really excited to hear the news about Robert. Can you explain to me what let you know that he was gifted?
  • Sure, I would love too! Robert has a keen power of abstraction, shows great ability in problem solving and applying concepts, and has a diversity of interests and abilities.
  • I would love to learn more about giftedness. What does the gifted education program entail? How does it help Robert develop his learning abilities?
  • That sounds like a fantastic opportunity! I am very excited for Robert. My only concern is, won't he miss his assignments from his general education class?
  • Great question! Robert's homeroom and Reading teachers will allow Robert additional time to complete any assignments he misses while in the gifted classroom.
  • At Choices in Learning, our gifted students are placed into a gifted education class once a week. In this class, they receive the opportunity to work collaboratively with like-minded peers and challenge themselves academically.
  • That is excellent news!
  • His general education teachers will also ensure that he is challenged appropriately in their classes by providing him with enrichment activities in which he can extend his learning.
  • Thank you so much for your time and support. I appreciate you explaining CIL's gifted program to me. I am very pleased that Robert will have this opportunity.
  • My pleasure! Please reach out to me if you have any additional questions!
