  • The Missouri Compromise was when there would be the same amount of slaves states such as free states. Missouri and Maine would become slave states and 11 states would be slaves states and 11 states would be free states.
  • Kansas Nebraska Act of 1854/ Bleeding Kansa
  • The Fugitive Slave Act of 1850 was when slaves had no right to jury trial and increased the penalty for interfering with the rendition process to $1,000 and six months in jail.
  • Dred Scott Decision
  • Uncle Toms Cabin was book that was published in 1852 it was written by Harriet Beecher Stowe, she had written the book for anti-slavery and it was about how she had encountered Fugitive slaves and the Underground Railroad.
  • Lincoln - Douglas Debates of 1858
  • The Kansas Nebraska Act was passed by the U.S Congress on May 30th, 1854, it had allowed people in the territories of Kansas and Nebraska decide if they want to allow slavery in their borders such as popular sovereignty. The act had repealed the Missouri Compromise of 1820 which had prohibited slavery north of latitude 36"30.
  • The Dred Scott Decision was when The United Sates supreme court had issued a decision in the Dred Scott Case. The Decision was affirming the right of slave owners to take their slaves to the western territories, there by negating the doctrine of popular sovereignty.
  • The Lincoln- Douglas Debates were between a Northerner and a southerner, Lincoln was the Northerner and Douglas was the Southerner. Lincoln felt that slavery should be abolished and that the south needs to abolish slavery and get rid of it.
