Would you like to come taste my Amontillado? I can not tell if it is good or not.
*cough* I'll be okay. *sips wine*
Would you like to turn back? You seem quite ill.
During a carnival in Italy, Montresor runs into Fortuando, and offers to share a really nice bottle of Amontillado wine with him. However, this bottle is in his catacombs. It is late at night and Fortuando starts to feel ill.
The narrator, Montresor, claims that Fortuando greatly insulted him, and is plotting to get revenge. The reader never knows what the insult was, but they assume that it is very bad for the level of revenge.
STOP, what are you doing this for? *starts laughing*
Montresor lures Fortuando down to the eerie wine cell. As suspense builds, Montresor continuously asks Fortuando if he wants to turn back due to his upset stomach. Fortuando keeps drinking his wine to ease he cough.
When they reach their destination, there is no amontillado, but there is a hole in the wall. Montresor stuffs Fortuando in, and starts to fill the whole with bricks.
At last a few bricks are laid, Fortuando starts to scream, but Montresor doesn't listen. Montresor went through with his revenge.
At last, Montresor gets his sweet revenge on Fortuando. Fortuando eventually dies of his sickness. No one has disturbed either of the guys in 50 years.
