The Colonists Were Outnumbered
The colonists were extremely passionate towards their cause, unlike the British. They knew that if they lost this war then everything that they worked so hard for would all go to waste.
The Continental Army Had Very Little Supplies
The men that joined the Continental Army had no previous military experience. Most of them were farmers, blacksmiths, merchants, or just everyday citizens. A lot of them never even held a musket before.
A major weakness for the Continental Army was manpower. They were always short of qualified and capable men and routinely had no more than 20,000 troops at one time and place. While the British army had 50,00 troops and 30,00 hired mercenaries.
