Storyboard Text

  • This is Valley Forge, where George Washington led his soldiers away from the British.
  • George Washington lived in a two story stone house with his closest aides near the Valley Forge Creek
  • Within days, they constructed 1500-2000 log huts in parallel lines that could shelter 12000 soldiers and 400 women.
  • Valley Forge was 20 miles away from Philadelphia which was good for the Patriots because they wouldn't get surprise attacks and they knew where they were because of their angle.
  • Each hut measured about 14 by 16 feet.
  • They got all of their supplies from a surrounding countryside
