On July 22, 1587, Governor John White and 117 colonist arrived to the New World. They found an island that was deserted and the fort knocked down. One mans bones were the only thing that was found on the island.
White's daughter had her baby on August 18, 1587 named Virginia who was the first English child born in North America. The colonist had to find rivers and ponds to drink and wash from. They also had to plant and hunt crops to eat.
I believe that the Spanish took the colonist hostage and killed them because the Spanish and English were at war and when the English's location got out the Spanish promised to find and kill the colonist. The Spanish sent their ships up the coast to destroy the English colonist. The Spanish took the hostage and probably killed them because the English colonist were never seen again.
