  • France Is Broke
  • France Wants Taxes Lower
  • The Third Estate
  • France is broke due to overspending on wars, places, and other things. They needed someway to get more money to support themselves.
  • Formed the National Assembly
  • The taxes were to get more money so France wasn't broke. But the taxes were so high the people of France wanted it lowered.
  • The King Sent Soldiers to Versailles
  • The Third Estate separated from the other estates and wanted to make another assembly.
  • Group stormed the Bastille
  • The Third Estate formed the National Assembly on the palace tennis court. They swore the oath called the Oath of the Tennis Court. Also promising to write a constitution for France.
  • The King sent soldiers to Versailles because of crowds and riots and people got nervous and started to arm themselves.
  • People stormed the Bastille and killed government officials and other officials. The seven prisoners in the fort were freed.
