  • Fun Fact: Ratification is the act of signing or giving consent to a treaty, contract, or agreement 
  • The Articles of Confederation
  • The Declaration of Independence was adopted by the Continental Congress on July 4,1776. It was a statement announcing the independence of the U.S from the British.  
  • Three Branches of goverment
  • Separations of powers is a fundamental principal of the U.S government.  Each branch is divided among the three with different responsibilities.
  • Constitutional Convention 
  • The Articles of Confederation was adopted by the Continental Congress. It was the very first constitution of the U.S. (November 15,177)
  • 1. Freedom of speech, religion, and press; rights of petition and assembly 2. Right to bear arms 3. No forced quartering of troops 4. No unreasonable searches and seizures 5. Right to due process of law
  • Bill of Rights
  • The three branches of government are Legislative (Senate and House of Representatives) , Executive (President and about 5,000,000 workers), and Judicial (Supreme Courts and lower courts).  
  • Started May 25th till September 17 of 1787. It was a process of going through and making changes to better the Constitution. One major change was between the small and big states (how many reps they would have). 
  • 6. Rights of accused 7. Right to trial by jury in civil case 8. No cruel or unusual punishments 9.Other rights not included in Constitution 10. State rights and powers
