Hema was running home, wanting to see his new cat, after prsurading his parents in the past that he is responsibie enough to own a pet. He comes home to find his window open and the cat no where to be found. He knew that if his parents found out he would face severe conquences, so he set himself on a mission to find his cat before his parents came home.
He had a feeling his cat ran to the forest behind his backyard, but he had to figure out how far the forest was from his house. He decided to use the trigonometry tangent function. From the forest to the house forms an angle of 35°; his house is 25 ft. tall... 25/tan(35) = 52.76 ft. The distance from the forest to the house is nearly 53 ft.
He has to be in the forest? I mean... cats like birds... right?
As Hema was walking deep into the forest, he hears a slight noise of distress. He looks up in fear, noticing his cat was stuck on a tree, making noises, from what Hema assumed to be for help, but he needed to know how tall the tree is, in order to climb safely. He decided to use the trigonometry sine function. Hema was looking at the cat from a 48°; his line of sight was 4 ft... 4.800ft = sin(48°)*4. The height of the tree is estimated 5 ft.
